A block of rooms has been reserved at the Stanford Guest House.  Two nights are included in the cost of registration.   If you wish to make your own arrangements, the registration fee will be reduced by $200 US.

Travel Information

To Stanford University by Plane

The closest national/international airport is located near San Francisco,  20 miles from the University. A second national/international airport is located in San Jose, Californai, also about 20 miles from the University.

To your hotel from the airport - Airport transfer

You can rent a car at either airport.  There are low cost shuttle services that must be pre-ordered.  Both airports accommodate Uber and Lyf

Local transportation

The Stanford University area lacks a very good public transportation system. Participants are encouraged to either rent a car or use Lyft or Uber.  There is a shuttle bus running between the Stanford Guest House and the Medical Center.

Entry for foreigners to the United States

Please check with your country’s policy regarding the need for a Visa.

An invitation Letter for a visa will be issued upon receipt of your full advance payment of your registration fee. In case you are not able to receive the visa by March 1, 2020,  your payment will be reimbursed.

The official language of the country is English 


The official currency is the US dollar 


In the US,  banks are usually open between 8.00 - 16.00 on weekdays, although some close an hour earlier on Fridays. With the exception of some shopping mall bank branches, ATM machines and currency exchange machines are available throughout the country. Credit cards - Diners Club, American Express, MasterCard and VISA - can be used to withdraw cash from banks and ATM machines and to pay bills in hotels, restaurants and shops. 


The climate in May is usually mild and dry

Electricity is supplied at 110 Volts. Two-prong electric outlets (110 V, 60 Hz) are used.
