Visiting Observer Program

General Information

We are pleased to offer a limited Visiting Observership opportunity for students and physicians interested in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery through Stanford University's Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

This observership is offered on a selective and periodic basis, depending on divisional capacity, faculty availability, and clinical schedules. While we welcome applications from individuals seeking exposure to plastic surgery, submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance or placement.

The program is designed to provide observational experience across various subspecialties of plastic surgery. Accepted observers may have the opportunity to observe clinical activities and engage in discussions with faculty to gain insight into patient care, surgical decision-making, and advancements in the field.

All applications are reviewed individually, and participation is subject to faculty approval. Due to high interest and limited availability, not all applicants will be accommodated.

To apply, please complete the application form at the link below. If selected, applicants will receive further instructions regarding required documentation, including HIPAA compliance and onboarding materials. Visitors should be prepared to submit official immunization records from a physician’s office or hospital; self-reported records will not be accepted. Please refer to the FAQ section for full immunization requirements.

We appreciate your interest in Stanford Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and your understanding of the selective nature of this opportunity.
