Dr. Pooja Yesantharao Awarded the Health Equity Fellowship for Trainees (HEFT) by Health Affairs

PGY4 Resident Dr. Pooja Yesantharao has been awarded the Health Equity Fellowship for Trainees (HEFT) by Health Affairs, a leading journal in health policy. This fellowship aims to enhance the quality and quantity of health equity research and to cultivate future leaders in the field.

In collaboration with her mentor, Faculty Dr. Clifford Sheckter, Dr. Yesantharao will focus on contextualizing health equity within reconstructive surgery. She expressed her honor in receiving the fellowship, stating, “Through this fellowship, I hope to lay the foundation for an academic career advocating for access to plastic and reconstructive care.”

The HEFT program provides multi-layered mentorship to early-career researchers, offering guidance from experienced Health Affairs authors and editorial staff. Fellows prepare manuscripts for publication in Health Affairs or other reputable journals, contributing to the advancement of health equity research.
