The 2025 International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH) and International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (IFSHT) Triennial Congress was held in Washington, D.C. March 24-28, 2025, bringing together global leaders in hand surgery and therapy. Hosted by ASSH, AAHS, and ASHT, the event featured cutting-edge research, international collaboration, and recognition of pioneers in the field. There were several highlights from Stanford Plastic Surgery.
2025 Program Highlights:
LEADERSHIP & HONORS
Dr. James Chang, Chief, served as ASSH Chair of the Congress and led the Opening Ceremonies.
Dr. Vincent Hentz, Chief Emeritus, was honored with the Pioneer of Hand Surgery award.
FACULTY CONTRIBUTIONS
Dr. Catherine Curtin chaired a session on Pain Management, moderated a Scientific Paper Session on denervation, and participated in the Diversity in Hand panel moderated by alumnus Dr. Michael Galvez.
Dr. Paige Fox presented during the Practice Management session titled "Minimizing Costs While Maximizing Value: How Our Treatment Decisions Impact Personal & Global Sustainability."
Dr. Subhro Sen moderated a Scientific Paper Session on benign tumors.
Dr. Anna Luan presented her work on using machine learning to detect osteoporosis and osteopenia from hand radiographs.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Dr. Chang presided over the Presidential Dinner, hosted at the International Spy Museum, a highlight of the week’s events.
