Stanford Plastic Surgery Marks 60th Anniversary and 50th Anniversary of Zedplast

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford held its 60th anniversary celebration alongside the 50th anniversary of Zedplast, the Stanford Plastic Surgery Alumni Association, from September 5–7, 2025. The three-day event included receptions, panel discussions, campus tours, and a gala dinner.

Friday

The weekend began Friday evening with a cocktail reception at the Hyatt Centric Mountain View recognizing the 50th anniversary of Zedplast.

Saturday

On Saturday at the Hoover Institution’s David & Joan Traitel Building, Drs. James Chang and Dung Nguyen provided opening remarks, followed by Dr. Rod Hentz’s presentation on the evolution of the integrated residency program. David Entwistle, President and CEO of Stanford Medicine, delivered a keynote on the future of Stanford Medicine. A presidential panel featuring Drs. Greg Buncke, Debra Johnson, Michael Longaker, and Jane Weston was moderated by Drs. Arash Momeni and Connor Arquette.

The “Stanford Now and in the Future” session included presentations from Drs. James Chang, Michael Longaker, Catherine Curtin, Peter Deptula, Paige Fox, Yvonne Karanas, David Kahn, and Dung Nguyen. Afternoon campus tours included the Hagey Research Facilities, Cantor Arts Museum, and campus gardens. The day concluded with a dinner gala at the Hoover Institution, including a reception, dinner, live auction, and music.

Sunday

Sunday’s program opened with the panel “How Far Have We Come?” moderated by Drs. Rohit Khosla and Taylor Chisholm, with panelists Drs. Heather Furnas, Joshua Korman, Thomas Satterwhite, and Gloria Sue. Additional sessions covered practice building, the impact of social media, and concurrent subspecialty sessions in reconstruction and microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, hand and upper extremity, and cosmetic surgery.

The “Best Case/Best Save” session featured presentations from residents and fellows, moderated by Dr. Clifford Sheckter, with judges Drs. Yvonne Karanas, Leila Jazayeri, and Connor Arquette. Faculty member Dr. Subhro Sen won the competition. The weekend concluded with awards and closing remarks from Drs. James Chang and Dung Nguyen.
