Dr. James Chang Receives 2026 David P. Green Mentorship Award

March 27, 2026

The American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) has announced that James Chang, MD, Chief and Professor of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 David P. Green Mentorship Award.

The national award recognizes one ASSH member who is a dedicated leader in the field and has invested time in the professional development of current and future hand surgeons.

"It has been so gratifying to see the effect of mentorship on all levels: an undergrad getting into graduate school, a medical student going into his or her favorite specialty, a resident landing that first faculty position, and faculty doing amazing things for patients," said Dr. Chang.

As part of this honor, Dr. Chang will present a panel at the 81st ASSH Annual Meeting in September 2026 in Boston, Massachusetts.

The David P. Green Mentorship Award was established in honor of David P. Green, MD, to recognize individuals who have contributed to the advancement of hand surgery through mentorship, education, and professional development.
