Dr. Paige Fox Promoted to Professor

Dr. Paige M. Fox has been promoted to Professor in the Stanford University Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, effective August 1, 2026.

Division Chief Dr. James Chang reflected on Dr. Fox's longstanding contributions to the division:

"I have been aware of Dr. Paige Fox's excellence ever since she went with me on a reconstructive surgery trip to Cambodia as a fourth-year resident. For over the past decade, she has succeeded as a busy hand and microsurgeon, as a federally funded investigator, and as Residency Program Director. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Fox on her outstanding academic accomplishments. I know that she will contribute even more to Stanford Plastic Surgery in the years to come."

Dr. Fox completed her MD/PhD training at the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her plastic surgery residency at Stanford University and went on to complete a fellowship in hand surgery at Mayo Clinic.

Since September 2019, Dr. Fox has served as Residency Program Director for the Stanford Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency program. She also holds a joint appointment with the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.

Her clinical practice focuses on disorders of the upper extremity in adult and pediatric patients, as well as peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery, facial reanimation, and reconstructive surgery following trauma and tumor resection.

Dr. Fox's research program includes clinical studies focused on optimizing care for hand surgery patients and a basic science laboratory investigating muscle changes following chronic nerve compression and advancing wound care. She served as the Ryan-Upson Scholar in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine from 2018 to 2021.

In addition to her clinical, research, and educational responsibilities, Dr. Fox was appointed Medical Director for Sustainability at Stanford Health Care in December 2023, where she works on initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of health care delivery across the enterprise.
