May 4, 2026

Drs. Paige Fox and Robin Kamal have been appointed as Co-Directors of the Robert A. Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center, Stanford Hand Surgery. They succeed Dr. Amy Ladd, who served as director for 18 years.

The Robert A. Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center was founded in 2002 and brings together faculty from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to provide multidisciplinary care for patients with a wide range of hand and upper limb conditions. The Center is recognized for its comprehensive clinical care, research, and education, and serves as a regional and national referral center for complex cases.

“The founders and faculty of the Chase Hand Center have created a Center known for excellence in hand surgery. With Dr. Kamal, I am excited to build on this strong foundation to help grow the research enterprise, continue to provide cutting edge training for our residents and fellows, and attract patients from California, around the US, and internationally to be treated by our talented faculty,” said Dr. Fox.

“I’m excited for this new role and what it means for our faculty, fellows,  residents, and most importantly, our patients at the Chase Hand Center. In collaboration with Dr. Fox and our expert clinicians, I look forward to advancing the clinical mission and global reach of the Center, and building our preeminence as an international destination for complex hand care, advanced clinical and basic science research, and education,” added Dr. Kamal.

Under the leadership of Dr. Ladd, the Center advanced its mission of delivering integrated care while expanding its impact in research and education.

As Co-Directors, Drs. Fox and Kamal will continue to build on this foundation, advancing interdisciplinary care, innovation, and training within the field of hand and upper limb surgery.

The Center honors the legacy of Dr. Robert A. Chase, Stanford Medicine’s first Chair of Surgery.
