    Dr. Geoff Gurtner has accepted the position of Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona.

    Dr. Paige Fox has been promoted to Associate Professor effective October 1st. Dr. Fox joined the Plastic Surgery team in 2015 and is currently the Residency Program Director.

    Ruth Tevlin Receives ACSCC Excellence in Research Awards

    The abstract submitted by Dr. Ruth Tevlin, a resident in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, was awarded the Scientific Forum Excellence in Research Award by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the highest-scored submission in the plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery category. The abstract is entitled "Denervation During Mandibular Distraction Osteogenesis Results in Impaired Osteogenesis."

    Dr. Peter Johannet Receives Community Preceptor Award

    Dr. Peter Johannet, Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford Plastic Surgery, received the Community Preceptor Award (Pre-clinical) at last night's annual Stanford Teaching Awards Ceremony. The award recognizes exceptional contributions to pre-clinical teaching by a preceptor who is a teaching affiliate at a site outside of Stanford Health Care.

    Stanford Plastics Attends AAPS Annual Meeting

    The Division of Plastic Surgery had a strong showing at the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS) annual meeting in Miami, FL this week. Four podium presentations as well as two poster presentations were given on topics ranging from craniofacial surgery to breast reconstruction; the acceptance rate of the 458 submitted abstracts was a mere 21%.

    Chan Lab Receives NIH S10 Instrumentation Grant

    Dr. Charles Chan and his lab have received a grant from the NIH S10 Instrumentation Programs allowing the purchase of a state-of-the-art microfluidics-based single cell or cell-cluster sorter and dispenser.
