Dr. Clifford Sheckter Receives Peter Brigham Award at American Burn Association Annual Meeting

Dr. Clifford Sheckter received the Peter Brigham Award at the American Burn Association (ABA) Annual Meeting which took place April 9-12, 2024 in Chicago, IL. He won the award for his work on Home Oxygen Therapy, a treatment that provides additional oxygen to individuals recovering from burn injuries.

The Peter Brigham Burn Epidemiology Prevention Best Paper Award is awarded for original research studies which may address any single burn or fire prevention problem, a specific population, multiple etiologies, or epidemiology.

On receiving the award, Dr. Sheckter shared, ā€œIā€™m very grateful to be part of the American Burn Association and work towards reducing fire injury across the US. The synergy between Stanford University and SCVMC allows me to continue this work.ā€

In addition, Dr. Sheckter was an author on 13 presentations at the conference, including a Top 5 Session abstract, "Burn Center Verification and Safety-net Status. Are There Differences in Discharge to Inpatient Rehabilitation?ā€

Dr. Clifford Sheckter is Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford and Director of the Regional Burn Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. He is double-board certified in Surgical Critical Care and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
